One of Maharashtra’s most popular historical and tourism destinations is Shivneri Fort. This military stronghold, which is situated in the Pune region of Maharashtra and is close to Junnar, was built as early as the 17th century.
In recent times, it has gained popularity as a tourist destination in Maharashtra. The fabled Maratha leader and Maratha Empire founder, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, was born in Shivneri Fort. In the first century AD, Buddhism began to dominate the area. The Devagiri Yavadas gave the fort its name.
The purpose of this fortified hamlet was to protect the trade route that connected the city port of Kalyan with Desh. In the fifteenth century, the Bahami kings inherited the fort shortly after the Delhi Sultanate fell from power. The interalia of Chakan and Shivner was given to Maratha leader Maloji Bhosale by Bahadur Nizam Shah II, the king of Bahmaniya. The robust design of the fort proved to be impenetrable against many army efforts at penetration.

Shivaji Maharaj, the great Maratha chief, gave the fort its real prominence. On February 19, 1630, Shivaji was born, and he lived in this fort his whole childhood. Ultimately, the British had the authority over the fort.

The roads that link the fort with the neighbouring city of Junnar are the most direct way to reach the fort. Pune is almost ninety kilometres from the city of Junnar. Junnar is two to three kilometres away from the fort. Prior to making travel plans here, it is important to have a clear understanding of the most efficient route to the location.

The best time to view the fort is during the day. In actuality, visitors are only permitted to enter and roam around the fort during the day. Visitors must respect the visitor safety and security regulations and be able to see the fort clearly during the day. Though you may visit the fort at any time of year, the winters are perhaps the nicest. This fort is a popular place to go hiking. Therefore, the best time to visit the location is during the winter.
