Many of the healthiest foods are high in carbs. In fact, It’s a myth that all carbs are unhealthy. 

We have listed a few high carb foods that are actually healthy.


Quinoa


Along with having high carbs, it is also a good source of protein and fibre.

These seeds are rich in vitamins and minerals and have been linked to a variety of health benefits, including heart health and blood sugar management.

As quinoa is high in fiber and protein it may help promote healthy weight management.



Oats


Oats are incredibly healthy grains and a great source of vitamins and minerals.

These contain more protein than most of the grains.

They also lower blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes.

Just like quinoa, these are very filling which could help in weight management.



Bananas

Kidney beans

100 grams of Cooked kidney beans contain about 21 grams of carbs. 

Apart from having high carbs these are also high in protein and are a good source of many vitamins, and minerals.

Chickpeas


100 grams of cooked chickpeas contain about 25 grams of carbs and 8 grams of fibre.

These are linked with improved digestive and heart health but also help protect certain types of cancer. However, some more research is needed in humans to confirm this.

They contain many vitamins and minerals including iron and phosphorous. We should consider making them a staple food in our diet.
