Mrunal Thakur portrayal of Bulbul in the hit television series Kumkum Bhagya gained her popularity. The movie is based on the life of Anand Kumar, an educator and math teacher, and his educational initiative, Super 30. Anand Kumar is portrayed by Hrithik Roshan, and Supriya, his love interest and spouse, is portrayed by Mrunal Thakur. Important characters in the movie are Nandish Sandhu, Virendra Saxena, Pankaj Tripathi, Aditya Srivastava, and Amit Sadh. The film was successful and brought in around ₹209 crore globally.
Gumraah
Gumraah is a 2023 action thriller in the Hindi language, produced by Cine1 Studios and T-Series Films under the direction of Vardhan Ketkar. The film stars Murad Khetani. Aditya Roy Kapur plays two distinct characters in the movie: Arjun and Sooraj, who are top suspects in a murder case and look alike. Inspector Shivani Mathur, portrayed by Mrunal Thakur, is the one in charge of the inquiry and seeks the truth. In significant roles in the movie are Ronit Roy, Vedika Pinto, and Manish Chaudhari. The movie is a remake of Thadam, a 2019 Tamil film that was inspired by a true story.
Batla House
The 2019 Hindi-language action drama film Batla House was written and directed by Ritesh Shah and Nikkhil Advani. The movie is based on the 2008 Batla House encounter case, in which two alleged Indian Mujahideen terrorists were slain by a group of Delhi Police officers during a raid on an apartment at Batla House, Jamia Nagar. ACP Sanjay Kumar, a fictionalised representation of Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, the police officer who spearheaded the encounter, is portrayed by John Abraham. Nandita Kumar, Sanjay’s wife and a news anchor, is portrayed by Mrunal Thakur.
The supporting actors in the movie are Ravi Kishan, Rajesh Sharma, Nora Fatehi, and Prakash Raj. On August 15, 2019, the film debuted in cinemas and quickly became a success, grossing around ₹113 crore globally.
Toofan
Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is the director of the 2021 Hindi-language sports drama film Toofan, which is co-produced by Excel Entertainment and ROMP Pictures. In the movie, Farhan Akhtar plays Aziz Ali, a former extortionist who chooses to become a boxer and develops feelings for Mrunal Thakur’s character, Ananya Prabhu, a doctor. Lust Stories 2 is a 2023 Hindi-language anthology film that is divided into four short pieces directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, Konkona Sen Sharma, Sujoy Ghosh, and R. Balki.
