Mrunal Thakur portrayal of Bulbul in the hit television series Kumkum Bhagya gained her popularity. Later, in 2018, Mrunal made her feature debut as the lead character Sonia in the highly regarded film Love Sonia. Her performance with superstar Hrithik Roshan in the successful movie Super 30 helped her gain greater recognition.

ACP Sanjay Kumar, a fictionalised representation of Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, the police officer who spearheaded the encounter, is portrayed by John Abraham. Nandita Kumar, Sanjay’s wife and a news anchor, is portrayed by Mrunal Thakur.

The supporting actors in the movie are Ravi Kishan, Rajesh Sharma, Nora Fatehi, and Prakash Raj. On August 15, 2019, the film debuted in cinemas and quickly became a success, grossing around ₹113 crore globally.
