First Oscar for Indian Cinema:
SS Rajamouli who represented Telugu cinema on a global stage with ‘RRR’ has brought an Oscar award. This magnum opus which was released in 2022 earned more than 1200 crores and it got huge international recognition. Hollywood big directors like Steven Spielberg and James Cameron praised the film and the ‘Naatu Naatu’ song composed by MM Keeravani and sung by Rahul Sipligunj along with Kaala Bhairava from the movie became the international chartbuster.
Chandrabose is the lyric writer while Prem Rakshit choreographed it. This song brought Oscar to India for the First time and the music composer along with the lyricist received it on the stage. Also, the two singers sang it live at the Oscars which was a great recognition. The song also won a Golden Globe Award. Rajamouli and actors Ram Charan and NTR received multiple international awards at various film festivals and received huge appreciation across the globe.
Domination in National awards:
Telugu movies receiving a national award are limited. Most of the times Telugu cinemas are ignored by the award committee citing various reasons. But this year Telugu cinema has shown its domination at national awards.
Telugu cinema dominated completely as Devi Sri Prasad got the award for Best Songs for nationwide blockbuster Pushpa while MM Keeravani bagged the award for Best Background Score for krish directorial Kondapiolam. ‘RRR’ received the best film award while Action Director King Solomon won the award for Best Action Director. Prem Rakshit, Kaala Bhairava and Srinivas Mohan have also received National Awards in their respective categories.
Chandrabose became the best lyricist for a song in ‘Kondapolam’ and Vaishnav tej starrer ‘Uppena’ became the Best Telugu film in the regional category.
For the first time in Telugu cinema history, Icon star Allu Arjun has received the national award for best actor.
Most interesting thing is that all the awards in a way related to heroes from mega families. Ram Charan in RRR, Vaishnav tej in Uppena, Allu Arjun in Puspha. It is pure coincidence that it still brought smiles to mega fans.
Balagam movie has received more than 100 awards at various film festivals. RRR has ran for more than 100 days in Japan went on to become a huge blockbuster in Japan
